A nice contrast this month in our tasting room: the king of Italy meets the delicate German Riesling. Much misunderstood and often confusingly presented, German Riesling offers some outstanding dry wines, from light and delicate to structured and weighty styles. The Barolo tasting did show how the idea of it being powerful and dense is flawed: many of the wines were delicate and light, and when young can be very feminine and fragrant.
