Jura is a remote island 60 miles off the West Coast of Scotland to the north of Islay with only about 200 residents, one road, one pub, one distillery and the abundant nature.
The namesake distillery was originally established in 1810 but was closed in 1901. Though once torn down to avoid paying rent, the distillery was revived in 1963 by a joint venture by blender Charles Mackinlay & Co of Leith and two of the island’s landowners.
Jura benefits from the distinct microclimate and wilderness to make some of the most attractive malt whiskies. Despite the short distance to its peers in Islay, Jura produces a less peaty style of whisky that’s more Highland in character.
Our top recommendation for this Cyber Monday is the Jura Seven Wood, a single malt whisky which has been shaped by seven separate Oak woods: first-fill ex-bourbon American White Oak, Limousin, Troncais, Allier, Vosges, Jupilles & Les Bertranges barrel.
It is currently on sale on Amazon for just £38, 36% off its original price.
These ‘Seven Woods’ gave this whisky a complex nose of coffee, ginger spice and milk chocolate, in addition to layered flavours including caramelised peach, chewy liquorice and candied orange with a hint of sea-spray and smoke.
The limited discount also applies to a range of Jura malts, with the best deals below.
