Stephen Brook gives his top three wines from the Bordeaux Index Burgundy 2008 tasting
Despite its name, Bordeaux Index put on an extensive 2008 Burgundy tasting.
It gave tasters the chance to compare Meursault Perrieres from three producers: Drouhin, Bouchard, and Louis Latour.
All showed well, but the Drouhin won by a nose:
Concentrated, packs a punch, has power and a slight earthiness, and a long white pepper finish. 17.5. £490 IB.
There were also 4 Batard Monrachets to compare, and again, Drouhin’s impressed me the most, but it does cost £1635 IB!
The reds were less consistent, but the wines from Groffier were superb, notably the Chambolle-Musigny Sentiers: Generous seductive cherry nose. Sleek and silky, delicate and very refined, fresh, long, and so stylish. 17.5. £630 IB
