Decanter has announced that John Stimpfig is to take up the role of editorial content director.
Stimpfig, who will begin the new role on 30 September, is already a contributing editor at both Decanter and the Financial Times’ ‘How to Spend It’ supplement.
He has 20 years of experience writing about wine and has won several awards during that time. In 2012, he was named the Louis Roederer International Wine Feature Writer of the Year.
Decanter’s publishing director, Sarah Kemp, said, ‘John’s knowledge of the international wine world and his keen journalist’s eye makes him the ideal person to take the editorial helm at Decanter. With his experience, he is ideally placed to take Decanter on to the next stage.’
Stimpfig added, ‘I am thrilled and delighted to be joining the world’s best wine magazine as editorial content director. These are incredibly exciting times for Decanter, which continues to set the standards of wine writing both in print and online. My job will be to try and make Decanter even better for its international readership and I’m very much looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.’
