Decanter will gather some of the world's finest wine estates, including all Bordeaux first growth chateaux, for its inaugural consumer tasting event in mainland China later this year.
The first Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter will take place at the Ritz-Carlton in the Pudong district on 29 November 2014.
The Decanter Fine Wine Encounter is already one of Europe’s premier consumer wine events. Now, China’s growing ranks of wine lovers will have the opportunity to experience all the excitement of a Decanter Encounter in their own country.
For the first time in Asia, Decanter is proud to announce that directors of all five Bordeaux First Growths will be together under one roof, as part of what promises to be an unforgettable day of tastings and masterclasses.
Directors of Chateaux Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion and Mouton Rothschild will appear together in person on one stage to conduct a tasting of their legendary wines.
To add to the excitement, one of Italy’s most celebrated stars, Angelo Gaja, will also conduct a masterclass. Two of Spain’s most revered wineries, Vega Sicilia and Pingus, will also be showing their wines.
This unique event will give wine lovers the chance to meet the producers in person and to try an unrivalled range of the very finest wines from around the world.
Decanter has hand-picked the producers to ensure that wine lovers can taste some of the greatest wines ever assembled on one day.
Sarah Kemp, Decanter’s Publishing Director, said, ‘It is thrilling to be able assemble the Who’s Who of the wine world under one roof. Decanter is proud to be able to offer the wine lovers of China a day that any wine lover anywhere in the world would dream of.’
Martin Hao, previous editor-in-chief of Wine Press Magazine and now founder of HappyVino Wine Education, has been appointed brand ambassador for the Shanghai Encounter. He is responsible for public relations and marketing for the event within China.
Hao, also known by his Chinese name Liwen Hao, has judged at many wine competitions, including the Decanter Asia Wine Awards.
Tickets, pricing details and a full list of producers attenting the Shanghai Encounter will be released later this spring. Those interested in attending the event can register here at decantershanghai.com.
