An high-level wine assessment course designed for competition judges in Australia is coming to London later this month.
The Australian Wine Research Institute’s Advanced Wine Assessment Course is a four-day intensive course aimed at elite wine industry personnel.
Now, as part of the G’Day UK celebrations – a week-long celebration of Australia – a one-day version of the course will be run in London.
‘The course covers how to detect wine taints, and a number of wine flights are tasted to help guests build their tasting consistency in a judging context,’ the publicity says.
Over 800 participants have now taken part in the full course in Australia, which costs AUS$3,800.
According to the AWRI ‘it provides an understanding and training platform for the exceptionally high standards demanded of wine show judges.’
G’Day UK, which runs from 24-30 June, includes wine and food events at Selfridges, and major wine tastings at Australia House.
Lisa McGovern, director of Wine Australia UK, said, ‘Wine Australia will be showcasing the excellence and diversity of fine wines coming out of Australia, from our leading “Brand Champions” to iconic “Landmark” wines.’
