An Italian tribunal will allow the sale of wine featuring images and slogans of Adolf Hitler, Hermann Goring and other Nazi politicians.
In September, police confiscated 20,000 bottles of wine from the ‘Der Fuhrer’ range of Udine-based producer Vini Lunardelli, on the basis that they represented ‘a glorification of the perpetrators of crimes against humanity’.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, the wine has been released and can now be marketed.
This is the second time the courts have found in favour of Lunardelli, which launched the controversial ‘historic’ line in 1993. Other labels include Che Guevara, Winston Churchill and Karl Marx.
As in the first instance, when wines bearing portraits of Mussolini were seized in order to ‘minimise the promotion of fascism’, defendant Andrea Lunardelli was able to convince the judges that he had no political agenda.
