Loyd Grossman launches wine

UK TV cook and gourmet Loyd Grossman is extending his range to include Australian wine.

The former BBC Masterchef and Through the Keyhole presenter already heads a multi-million pound food business marketing sauces, curry pastes and other condiments. He’s also been employed by the UK National Health Service as a ‘food tsar’ to try to improve food in hospitals.

Grossman is now launching his own wine brand with the help of Australian vineyard owner Phil Norrie, who produces his own wine called Wine Doctor, and who regularly lectures and broadcasts on the health-giving aspects of red wine.

The samples undergoing final tastings include a Chardonnay Colombard, a Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, a dry Reisling, a Cabernet Shiraz, a Shiraz Cabernet, a Shiraz and a Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines chosen from this list will hit UK shelves in Autumn 2004, selling for around £5.99.

Paul Fieldhouse, another of Grossman’s partners in the business, said these are ‘excellent, contemporary wines from the best quality Australian wine regions.’
