Decanter Retailer of the Year Awards 2015 opens for entries

Entries are now open for the Decanter Retailer of the Year Awards 2015, which includes the introduction of a new category, the Judges’ Choice Award.

All entries are eligible for the new award, which is intended to reward truly innovative wine retailing. A winner will be chosen from the winners of each of the other categories.

This brings the total number of categories up to 14, including awards for regional specialists, as well as Supermarket of the Year, National Retailer of the Year and Large and Small Independent Retailers of the Year.

Last year’s winners included Marks & Spencer for Supermarket of the Year, and The Wine Society for National Retailer of the Year.

Retailers are judged on the quality of their wine range, plus online and in-store innovation and customer service over the past 12 months.

‘The Decanter Retailer Awards celebrates the best of the best,’ said awards chairman Peter Richards MW. ‘Those whose dedication, imagination and sheer hard work make them brilliant places to buy wine.’

Richards will be joined for the judging by Decanter’s tastings director, Christelle Guibert. Also on the panel will be industry consultant and ex-Sainsbury’s wine director Allan Cheesman, Decanter contributing editor Stephen Brook and, new to judging this year, wine writer and editor of the London Wine Guide, Matt Walls.

The deadline for submitting entries is 29 May 2015. The awards will be presented at the Connaught Hotel in London on 8 September 2015 and will be published on Decanter.com and in the November issue of Decanter magazine, set to go on sale 7 October.
