London wine merchants Bibendum have made the Sunday Times ‘100 Best Small Companies To Work For’ list – for the third year running.
The award is based on responses to a questionnaire sent to staff. All 128 Bibendum employees answered, and satisfied the Sunday Times that the company is an enjoyable and rewarding one to work for.
The survey editors of the UK newspaper said, ‘The glass of [Bibendum’s] employees is half full rather than half empty. Staff don’t feel they are under too much pressure to perform well, are happy with the balance between work and home life and have fun with colleagues. People believe in the company values and are excited about where it is going.’
Over 200 companies and a total of 13,000 staff responded to the survey this year.
Managing director Michael Saunders said, ‘It’s a thrilling award, as the questionnaire that everyone is asked to complete is very searching over a wide number of areas.’
Bibendum started in 1982 in a converted flight petroleum garage in London’s Primrose Hill. Still in those premises it has grown into one of the UK’s best-known wine companies, with a turnover in excess of £45m.
