The remaining wine from The Decanter World Wine Awards will go under the hammer at two special charity auctions. On Monday 15th November Christie’s will be holding an auction at their sales rooms in South Kensington. This will be followed by a second sale on Saturday 20th November at The Landmark Hotel as part of the events which make up The Decanter Fine Wine Encounter.
All proceeds from the sales will go to WaterAid, a charity supplying clean drinking water to the world’s poorest people. For both sales, David Elswood, Christie’s International Department Head of Wine, will be our auctioneer as wine lovers snap up an exceptional selection of mixed cases from the 4,500 wines judged in the inaugural Decanter World Wine Awards.
Wine will be auctioned off in mixed cases from different regions of the world – so whether you are passionate about Bordeaux or an Italian afficiando there will be something to tempt every palate.
All profits from the auction will go to WaterAid, an international charity dedicated exclusively to the provision of domestic water, sanitation, and hygiene education across Africa and Asia. WaterAid‘s work is fundamental; over a billion people do not have access to safe water.
