All these wines were originally judged as ‘outstanding’ in Decanter expert tastings, which means they scored at least 95 points out of 100. The chosen wines were re-tasted blind by Peter Richards MW, Sarah Jane Evans MW and Xavier Rousset MS.
It was a strong year for New Zealand and South African Syrah, both of which got two entries each in the list below. Margaret River Chardonnay also earned praise from Decanter’s expert panel, while Australia’s Eden Valley and Clare Valley got recognition for Viognier and Grenache wines respectively.
