Altos Las Hormigas, Jardin de Hormigas Meteora Malbec, Uco

Alberto Antonini owns the 88ha Jardin Altamira estate, planted at 1,200m and focusing on Malbec. This unoaked version is very perfumed: floral with violets and black cherry dancing over a core of spicy black fruit. There's lovely depth of fresh, bright pure black fruit on the palate – lots of silky black cherry – with top notes of red fruit: plum and cranberry on the long finish, overlaid with hints of herbs and spices. A wine of precision and tension – and a great partner for beef dishes.
