D.V. Catena, Chardonnay Historico, Mendoza, Argentina, 2019

A must-try if you love a New World Chardonnay. The Catena family has been a pioneer in high-altitude viticulture, and the grapes for this were sourced from stony vineyards in the Uco Valley, at around 1,000m above sea level. It brings a lovely cool character to the nose, which has marked minerality. It's textured and slightly saline on the palate, with ripe yellow fruits and some sweet vanilla spice from the oak. Big without being blowsy.
