Here's one to stump your friends. Is it Amarone? Is it Argentinian Malbec? It's both! Made by the Argentinian arm of Amarone pioneer Masi and following the appassimento method, 70% Corvina and 30% Malbec grapes are dried on trays for 20 days to concentrate their sugars. They are vinified separately then matured for 18 months in barriques and blended. The result is a really sexy red with excellent freshness that offsets the huge richness of baked spiced cherry fruit and dense chocolate tones.
