Grenache-obsessive British MW Giles Cooke has produced a belter here from vines (including a dash of Mataro and Shiraz) between 30 and 60 years old. A perfect summer red served slightly chilled, it has an enticing perfume and sappy, crunchy flavours of red cherry, tart plum and lifted hibiscus. Fermented in concrete with wild yeasts and some whole bunch fruit, it has real energy and purity at a super price.
