Mac Forbes, EB20 OV Chenin, Yarra Valley, Victoria, 2015

EB stands for experimental batch, and this is what Mac, a very talented and dynamic winemaker, does best. He finds older vineyards (the OV in the title refers to the old vines) that have proven a challenge to farm and introduces organic farming methods to turn them into viticultural masterpieces. This cracking Chenin Blanc is full of energy with white stone fruit and a citrus edge. It is ripe and complex, packed with ripe peachy fruit characters and a lovely mouthfeel. This is Mac's first attempt to make a Chenin Blanc, so watch this space for more!
