Lidl, Cigar Box Old Vine Hand Harvested Pinot Noir, Leyda, Chile 2019

There are two vintages of this cool-climate Chilean Pinot Noir in stores, the 2019 and the 2020. The name alludes to the tobacco oak notes, and there is definitely some oak toastiness on show here. But both vintages also show a generosity of fleshy strawberry and black cherry fruit, and a warming, ripe character. 2020 is slightly tighter and darker, 2019 a little more mellow.
