Chateau Changyu-Moser XV, Helan Mountain East, Ningxia, 2016

The 2016 vintage of Changyu Moser XV's grand vin was aged in 100% new French oak for 18 months, showing a complex nose of black cherry, prunes, vanilla, tobacco and cedar spices. Sweet and juicy, it has a good level of acid (5.0g/l) to balance the prune and ripe plum flavours. Pu Er tea, cigar box and sweet spices add an extra layer of complexity, followed by a warming prune liqueur finish. Robust tannins and a masculine body suggest ageing potential.
