Chateau Changyu-Moser XV, Purple Air, Helan Mountain East, Ningxia, China 2016

After six years of ageing, Changyu Moser XV's 'Purple Air' has started to show its real potential as an iconic wine from Ningxia. Aged in 100% new French oak, including 10% heavily-toasted barrels assembled in Yantai, Shandong Province, the wine has a perfumed nose of roasted coffee, goji berries, dried rose petals and prunes. Complex and elegant on the palate with spiced dark plums, dried herbs and hawthorn, supported by still-vivid acidity and textured, chocolate-like tannins. The finish is red fruit-driven, long and profound.
