Hejinzun Winery, Helanhong Cabernet Sauvignon, Helan Mountain East, Ningxia, China, 2016

Hejinzun Winery is one of the six producers designated by the Ningxia wine bureau to make wines under the regional brand ‘Helan Hong’. A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Marselan, this wine has a creamy vanilla nose, plus cocoa powder, stewed fruits and cherry liqueur notes. Violet and ripe black berry flavours are spiced by cedar box from 12-month oak aging, supported by a decent tannin backbone.
