Rizman, Syrah, Komarna, Dalmatia, Croatia, 2018

This single vineyard, Syrah, is comprised of three clones and comes from the A8 block on the Rizman estate. It offers a dark ruby hue and aromas of candied black raspberries, mocha and smoky clove and outstanding savoury herbs, what they call vrijesak, or wild oregano here in Komarna. An amaro bitterness announces the flavour profile, cutting across a black stony minerality with choke cherries and a grippy rose hip oil savouriness that finishes with a dash of white pepper.
