Zure, Bartul Grk, Lumbarda, Dalmatia, Croatia, 2023

The Bartul bottling from Zure, one of the top producers of Grk in the world (it only grows here, after all), is a single vineyard bottling from Defora, a site with rocky soils which was planted only recently. It sees ten hours of maceration and is raised in stainless steel. Aromatically bold with candied ginger, honey apricots, and a smoky, grilled lemon dash. The palate is full and medium-bodied with ample texture and impressive layered complexity. Fleshy yellow nectarines and white peaches fill the palate. It's ripe and intense but is lifted with a streak of ocean salinity to the finish.
