Aldi, Exquisite Collection, Crémant d’Alsace, 2017

Crémants are usually great value alternatives to Champagne, and although often made from local varieties they offer similar creamy textures and flavours as their more expensive cousins. This interesting blend of Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Riesling is creamy and broad but importantly also nice and fresh, full of crunchy green fruits, making it a good match for salads. JB
