Gewûrztraminer is very much a style where the wine takes centre stage – it's not a wallflower of a wine to play second fiddle to the conversation. It's a great style to pair with spicy food, such as a Thai curry, or you could try it with that famous Alsatian dish, choucroute. There's a little sweetness – off-dry rather than dry – and soft acidity, and aromas and flavours of peach, apricot, lychee, spice and rose petal. It has that Turkish Delight exoticism that you expect to find in this grape variety, and a lush opulence to it. Full of character, and full of flavour!
