Lidl, Gewürztraminer Camille Meyer, Alsace 2018

This was the star white of the French Tour line-up. If you haven't tried Gewürztraminer before, this is a great wine to start with. It has the typical aromas and flavours associated with the grape – exotic fruits (especially lychee), spice, and floral perfume (think talcum powder) – but it doesn't overwhelm. Old vines give it a good balance and a lovely weight of fruit. This really would be a fantastic match for Asian dishes with some heat – or Lidl recommends trying it with baked Camembert.
