This Alsace Pinot Blanc is new to Waitrose, and is only available in 77 stores. It's worth seeking out for its weight of firm, spicy peach fruit and faint florality. The bottle is unnecessarily heavy, but the wine inside is juicy and long, with great fruit purity. I'd like to drink this with seafood or sushi.

Lovely appealing nose, there's all sorts going on here, from lemon and grapefruit rind to blossom honey, jasmine, sweet peach and yellow plum fruit, but all under quite a reserved persona. The palate is full-bodied, there's a richness and viscosity here, a generous sucrosity and a lovely dry finish. I love this, there's also a sort of savoury toasty element. Great value considering the levels of complexity here.
