Château Bellevue Cardon, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France, 2016

The owner here is Chris Cardon, who also owns Château La Haye in St-Estèphe, utilising the expertise of consultant Eric Boissenot. A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, it displays firm, chalky tannins that are chewy but not tough, balanced by good fruit expression and a pure roasted coffee bean note on the finish. Vinified in vats but aged in 100% new French oak. No second wine.
