New on the shelves just in time for Christmas, this is the second wine from Château Clos l'Eglise, one of the oldest châteaux in Pomerol. And you don't even have to lay this down as it already has 10 years of age, drinking beautifully now. Perfect to accompany that rib of beef over the holidays. The wine spent between 18 and 24 months in French oak barrels, and you can taste the subtle influence of that oak ageing, along with fresh dark currant fruit, plum and blackberries. You'll also find coffee, leather and tobacco notes adding complexity. A real treat, and hats off to Tesco for sourcing a claret with this kind of bottle age, at a still accessible price.
