Decanter's Bordeaux correspondent Jane Anson pronounced Pomerol as a standout region on the Right Bank when she retasted the 2016 vintage in bottle recently, and this keenly priced offering from nearby Lalande-de-Pomerol shows the appeal of the vintage. It's mostly Merlot, as you'd expect here, and it's youthful and fruit-forward in style with fragrant, fleshy, dark berry fruit. There's good balance and enough grip to make it a perfect match for a leg of lamb.
