Château Franc Mayne, St-Émilion, Grand Cru Classé, 2012

Fragrant red berry , Merlot expression. Supple mid palate. Long, firm, calcaire finish.

The 6 hectares of 30 year old vines on this right bank estate are planted mainly to Merlot with about 10% of Cabernet Franc. This classic, well-priced claret has weathered well, showing savoury leather, cedar, oak and spice flavours along with ripe plum fruit. It has a few years in it yet, but is nice mature drinking now.
