This 2016 vintage of the second wine from Haut-Médoc third growth Château La Lagune is a great buy if you're looking for an affordable Bordeaux that's ready to drink. Produced organically and made by talented winemaker Caroline Frey, the blend of half Cabernet Sauvignon with 40% Merlot and a good dollop (10%) of Petit Verdot, the wine was aged for a year in French oak, 40% new. It's classic claret, balancing primary blackcurrant fruit with some leafy and leathery tertiary characteristics. Refined and appetising. Mix-six price: £26.99
