Château La Raze Beauvallet, Cru Bourgeois, Bordeaux, France 2015

It's always great to find a decent claret with some evolution on the supermarket shelves, especially at this value price point. The 2015 vintage was near perfect, and this unoaked blend of almost half-half Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is drinking beautifully now. Abundant dark curranty fruit with an earthy savouriness, a good demonstration of what you get at the cru bourgeois level. Last Christmas Waitrose offered this as part of its 10 at £10 promotion, but even at £15 this is good value.
