Château Lanessan, Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux, France, 2003

From an unusually hot vintage that was make or break for many estates. It's still drinking well and is well worth buying, thanks to its beautiful aromatics and juicy body. Bacon, tar and black pepper aromas lead into a full and rich mouthfeel, with black and red fruits followed by flavours of bacon fat, sweet spices and cream. There is no sign of it drying out, and it is still quite fresh with a succulent red fruit finish. I can't think of many Haut-Médocs that wear their age this well.
