Fleshy and fruity on the nose; smoked toast, black pepper and black cherries – super lively giving such nuance aromatically. Smooth and clean, crisp with bite but also really lovely chalky but fine tannins that give body and frame to the fresh red and black berry fruit. Lots of liquorice spice on the palate that settles around the edges, but this feels well made with lots to like. Give it at least an hour in a decanter. Easy drinking with balance and finesse. Made by fifth generation winemaker Patrick Carteyron from a selection of 15 hectares of his best terroirs of old-vine Merlot, aged one year in oak barrels. Enjoy with Sunday roast beef.
