Smells dark and seductive on the nose but at this point also quite closed, aromatic but less immediately fruit forward and identifiable. The palate is plush and chewy, with fleshy tannins that are grippy and really fill the mouth but give a lovely texture and suppleness to the fruit flavours. This is full of bramble fruits, red and black cherries with some blackcurrant hints. Still seems so young, and much fresher than the 2011. Hints of vanilla and liquorice give a menthol cooling aspect to the dark fruits. Can drink now but equally this could age at least another 3-5 years. Serve slightly cooler with a steak.
