Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Mâcon-Villages Vielles Vignes, Burgundy, France 2022

It's not easy to put the words 'value' and 'Burgundy' together these days, but this own-label old-vine bottling is an exception. Attractive creamy aromas, with fresh citrus, herbal notes and a hint of peach compôte. A touch of oak (20% is aged in French barrels) adds structure and depth to the palate, which shows beautiful balance between creaminess of texture and crisp linear acidity. Citrus, peach and apple notes linger on the fresh finish.
