Pierre Gimonnet, Special Club Cuis Premier Cru, Champagne, France 2018

2018's warmth and generosity prompted Didier Gimonnet to craft his first ever Special Club bottling from his home village of Cuis, a cooler, partially north-facing premier cru of the Côte des Blancs. It's a crisp, silky and pretty wine with fuzzy apricot fruit, pear blossom and creamy nut milk flavours, bright rather than tense, with both the easy-going charm of 2018 and some of the delicacy of the terroir on display.
