Domaine des Masques, Essentielle Syrah, IGP Méditerranée, France 2020

Rich, ripe and fleshy with lovely aromas of garique and Mediterranean herbs. Potent, forward, generously spiced and red fruited with the 100% Syrah also showing lively acidity - really quite zingy in the mouth with bright, almost sharp freshness with a slightly sour edge to the fruit. Some coffee, tobacco, dried herbs and mint nuances on the finish giving interest. Nicely structured, settled and calm especially tasting the day after opening. Tannins are smooth and this has enjoyable and fruit forward redcurrants, red cherries, strawberries and touches of plum. Not overly complex but rich and full with an appealing lingering freshness and spice on the finish.
