This wine is a vin doux naturel - fermentation is halted by fortifying to 15% before the yeast can consume all the sugar. It has fragrant, floral aromas of stone fruit and spiced pear. The palate is rich and dense, with a green fruit complexity of baked apple and ripe pear as well as an elderflower fragrance and further notes of stone fruit and spice. Could do with a touch more acidity to cut through, but overall this is a great value dessert wine to drink with cheeses, pâtés or terrines.
