It's not a style that some wine lovers will be familiar with, but this bottling from 2002, bottled two years ago, is guaranteed to make you a devotee of the southern French Rivesaltes VDN category. It's a fortified blend of Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc and Macabeu, aged in oak barrel for 20 years (in an oxidative environment) and bottled with around 120g/L residual sugar. It's a gorgeous amber colour when poured, softly treacley on the nose, and then with lush rich, raisined fruit and salted caramel notes. But fresh as a daisy!
