Great Pouilly-Fumé typicity, with a restrained, smoky, flinty, textured style, cool lemon citrus fruit and a long, full finish. The grapes for this are grown on predominantly chalky terroirs, but wines from different soils (sand, chalk, marne and flint) are vinified separately, with a small percentage from the best vineyards and oldest vines fermented and matured in oak barriques. Note the hefty alcohol content, but don't fear it – this is perfectly balanced. Part of the Waitrose 10 at £10 pre-Christmas promotion, this will be on offer at £10, from 1st to 14th December 2021. Fantastic value at this price, so snap it up to serve at the festive table.
