Le Pavillon de Targe, Saumur-Champigny, Loire 2017

Certified organic since 2020, the estate - located around an 11th century church - was still undergoing organic conversion during the production of this 2017 vintage. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc, it's earthy and spicy with a perfumed violet aroma and flavours of dried black fruits with herbal lift and a fresh, floral finish. It may lack a touch of fruit intensity but it remains good value, especially at the 'Mix 12' price of £12.99.
