The grape variety used to make Muscadet sounds a bit like a Spice Girl, but Melon B and the wine it produces are worth getting to know. It's a great pick for those who want a summery style of white to match with fish and seafood, but who aren't keen on overtly fruity aromas and flavours. With Muscadet you get brisk crispness, an almost saline tang, reminiscent of sea breezes, with some delicate white fruit in the background. And because it's still an unfashionable style, prices aren't inflated either. It could just be the summer white that you really really want...
