An impressive debut rosé from the new project by joint collaborators Baroness Ariane de Rothschild and Valerie Rousselle, winemaker of 120 hectare Château Roubine in Provence. The name 'Amistà' literally translates as 'friendship' in recognition of the female partnership and of the collaboration of winemakers from Bordeaux and Provence in the plot selection, blending and ageing decisions for this wine. A lovely pale pink colour, not quite super blush, still delicately hued but with a vibrancy to it in the glass. Freshly picked strawberries, white peach and herbal edged raspberries on the nose - lots of bright red fruits - alive and clear on the nose. Silky smooth and pure on the palate with a touch of creaminess and minerality from the clay-limestone soils as well as bitter edges all giving nuance and interest. Excellent weight and balanced acidity in the mouth - more of a gourmet style (it stood up to a spicy meal really well). Structured, mellow, not too acidic, rounded and fully fruited. Lovely appellation signature also with subtle garrigue herbal edges putting you squarely in Provence. Drink not so cold to get the aromatic complexity. 10% Mourvèdre completes the blend. 10,000 bottles produced. On sale online via the Edmond de Rothschild Heritage Wine Club.
