Aldi's best budget red by far remains its Chassaux et Fils Côtes du Rhône (2022: £4.75), but with a similar blend of grapes, this is always a reliable pick. Not quite as strong as the 2021 which had more Syrah (it's an even split this vintage), it still has tangy blackberry acidity and peppery spice, just more winegum-like red fruit.
