Allegedly Valréas wines restored the health of the newly elected Pope John XXII in 1317 – we can't guarantee such restorative properties with this example, but it's nevertheless a well-made, light- to medium-bodied red with juicy, savoury red berry fruit and a firm meaty edge. Perfect with a lamb hotpot.
