Tasted by: Stephen Brook, Ben Llewellyn, Anthony Rose
(at Decanter Magazine's January 2015 issue Cahors Panel Tasting, 16 Oct 2014)
Drinking Window: 2015 - 2022
Stephen Brook: Voluptuous blackberry and mocha nose with loads of sweet oak without being tarry. Indeed this has seductive aromas. Rich, velvety, very concentrated, spicy and complex, with fine-grained tannins, gorgeous plum, and mulberry fruit. Not overblown and the oak is classy and well judged. Very long, polished, and complete. Ben Llewellyn: Bright red cherry and raspberry notes augmented by refined oak. Touch of clove and cedar. The palate has meaty elements and concentration of fruit but is still contained in the wood. The wine is balanced; this is not simply an oak bomb, and will appeal to many. Anthony Rose: Polished oak, dark cherry perfumed, fine concentrated rich blackberry and cassis fruit intensity. Super smooth and succulent fruit quality nicely etched with a fine incisive blade of acidity and rounded out by black cherry fruit in a deeply satisfying finish.
