Vachnadziani, Otskhanuri Sapere, Imereti, Georgia, 2014

Characterful Georgian wine made from the native grape Otskhanuri Sapere and aged in qvevri (clay amphoras). Rustic nose with farmyard notes and brambly black fruit. The palate opens up with some time in the glass, revealing sappy red fruit – cranberry, cherry – plus wild brambly blackberries, herbal notes and a touch of smoke on the long and very dry finish.
