Schloss Vaux, Cuvée Vaux Brut, Rheingau, Germany 2019

Disgorged in November 2022, this is a super-fresh but unusual Sekt, made from a blend of Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. There is just a subtle hint of yeast alongside notions of plum skin and citrus. The palate is rounded but has a great spine of lemony, bright freshness. There is smooth foam and the unusual blend slots into an easy, effortless harmony. Bright and fresh with a lingering, zesty, bright lemon finish. Just made for a mouth-watering apéritif.
